“A really robust fixing capable of really pulling wood fibre insulation boards in tight against uneven walls, ensuring no voids remain behind the boards” – Chris Brookman

Product overview.

Where are they used?

  • UdiASSEMBLY Masonry fixings are suitable for internal or external use on to all types of masonry including soft brick, stone, Porotherm, concrete block and in to rendered surfaces.

How are they used?

  • Simply hold your insulation board in the desired position.
  • Using an 8mm drill bit, drill through the board and at least 70mm in to the substrate and then clear the hole by moving the dril back and forth 2-3 times.
  • Put the grey masonry plug on the end of the screw and insert in to the hole so that the plug goes in to the masonry and reaches the stops.
  • If the masonry is very soft, a small amount of silicone grease on the tip of the screw helps.
  • Once this is in place drive the screw in to the wall and stop once the head is level with the surface of the board.
  • Finally, insert the green plug in to the head to prevent any plaster reaching the head of the screw.
Technical Details

How many will you need?

  • Each box contains 100 screws. Depending on the system, you will need between 6 and 9 fixings per square metre.
  • Sizes refer to insulation thickness, not screw length.

Material in action.

Here you can see the EBB clay boards being attached to a new ceiling within a large building restoration project in Somerset. The boards are being used primarily because of their acoustic absorption so that privacy and acoustic separation are maintained in each of the rooms. In spite of some initial reservations, the installers find them simple and easy to work with and there is little waste.

Once all of the boards have been installed they will be plastered with the Baumit RK 38 and finished with the Baumit Klima Glatte for a slightly textured, historic feel.
