Close-ups.

Take a closer look at this product with these additional images.

Image description: This shows the UdiSPECIAL ADHESIVE in tubes. These are typically enough for half of one 1300 x 800mm reveal board or 2m of 150mm wide window reveal.

“A great product for new build and restoration projects alike as it combines traditional materials in a modern format”

Product overview.

Where is it used?

  • UdiSPECIAL ADHESIVE is used in plinth areas and around window and door reveals to glue wood fibre boards.
  • It can also be used to glue wood fibre boards which have been cut and have one square edge, reducing wastage.

How is it used?

  • Surfaces should be clean, dry and free of loose material before the UdiSPECIAL ADHESIVE is applied.
  • Apply generously to both surfaces and remove excess once in place.
  • Drying times are affected by temperature and humidity so in cold weather they will be longer.
  • Keep the lid on the tub at all times and replace immediately after use.
  • Keep the edges of the tub clean as this allows correct sealing of the lid.
  • Wash tools immediately after use as once dried the UdiSPECIAL ADHESIVE is very difficult to remove from pretty much everything!!
Technical Details

How much will you need?

The EBB Clay boards are 1250 x 625mm and 22mm thick, they cover an area of 0.78 m² per board. Allow at least 5% for wastage.

Are they heavy?

The boards themselves weigh around 23kg each so need careful handling and for ceiling applications should be installed with a plasterboard lift.

What is their thermal conductivity?

The clay boards are not designed to be a thermal insulator but their thermal conductivity is around 0.47 W/mK, similar to many lime or clay plasters.

Product overview.

Where are they used?

  • As a walling or ceiling board.
  • Between bedrooms and bathrooms
  • Bathroom and kitchen ceilings
  • Stud partitions

How are they used?

  • EBB Clay boards should be fixed using either drywall screws or stainless screws (depending on plaster to be applied) to a timber frame at a maximum of 625mm centres for walling and 417mm centres for ceiling applications.
  • 36mm plastic or stainless steel washers should also be used for ceiling applications.
  • As with all boarding, vertical joints should be staggered by at least 1 stud to avoid cracking.
  • Once the EBB Clay boards are installed they can be plastered with either lime based plasters (use stainless steel fixings) or clay based plasters (normal drywall screws are fine for this).
  • The joints should be reinforced with 100mm wide reinforcing, bedded in the plaster, although fully meshing the base coat works best.

Material in action.

Here you can see the EBB clay boards being attached to a new ceiling within a large building restoration project in Somerset. The boards are being used primarily because of their acoustic absorption so that privacy and acoustic separation are maintained in each of the rooms. In spite of some initial reservations, the installers find them simple and easy to work with and there is little waste.

Once all of the boards have been installed they will be plastered with the Baumit RK 38 and finished with the Baumit Klima Glatte for a slightly textured, historic feel.
