We offer various software based services starting with simple U-value calculations and condensation risk anaylses for our insulation systems which are often requested by Building Control. These give a good guide to the suitability and robustness of timber frame wall and roof constructions and with interpretation we can help you create bespoke specifications for various building elements.

For more complex retrofit work, where masonry is involved and there is the risk of rain driven moisture, we use an extremely thorough software package called WUFI. WUFI is a dynamic hygrothermal (heat and moisture) modelling tool for determining the long term risk of particular insulation interventions to existing structures, making it very useful for unusual or exposed projects. Although it doesn’t give pass/fail results it can highlight specifications which are more or less likely to give issues in the long term making it very useful in choosing particular build-ups.

Finally, we offer in-situ U-value testing using our GreenTEG heat flux kit. This can be very useful for retrofit to determine the actual amount of insulation required for a particular target. It can also be used for new construction to determine whether the structure meets it’s as-designed targets.
