SPECIFICATION GENERATOR
Find out which low impact materials are right for your building project.
NatureWall IWI gets it’s Agrément certificate.
After over 6 years of developing and honing the specification and the components within the NatureWall internal wall insulation system and 18 months of to-and-fro with KIWA, we are really proud to say we have now achieved our first BDA Agrément certificate.
What is the NatureWall internal wall insulation system?

The NatureWall system is designed to internally insulate solid-walled properties, reducing heat loss but also preventing mould growth and other related moisture issues within or around the walls. It was originally created to enable modern contractors to work with wood fibre insulation, known for it’s excellent thermal and moisture controlling properties, without having to be able to lime plaster.
The system comprises of a wood fibre board, mechanically fixed to the wall, followed by an airtightness membrane to minimise air leakage and regulate vapour flow through the wall. Battens are fixed to the surface to create a service zone which avoids destroying the airtightness membrane with service punctures. The rest of the void is filled with flexible wood fibre insulation and is finished with standard plasterboard.
Other than an initial levelling plaster and the final skim, the installation can proceed using dry trades, minimising mess, maximising speed and enabling mainstream contractors to get the benefits of wood fibre insulation.
Through the use of online training, comprehensive online details, 3d models, installation manuals and excellent technical support, designers and installers have all the information and support they need to install the system.
What is an Agrément certificate?

Firstly, it is an assessment from in independent third party (KIWA) confirming that the manufacturing processes and documentation for all of the components are correct. It also confirms that all of the mandatory testing, such as fire testing and performance evaluation, has been completed and that the system complies with the Building Regulations. Secondly, this allows us to approach the suppliers of Insurance Backed Guarantees and get the system approved for use where 25 year warranties are required for grant-funded retrofit work.
How do I get a 25 year warranty on the NatureWall system?
To get the 25 year warranty (a warranty is an insurance-backed guarantee) you need to be a PAS2030 approved installer and then sign up with either The Installation Assurance Authority (The IAA) or Qualitymark and register the project and the NatureWall IWI system with them. There is a procedure to follow where we assess each layer of the installation and on completion you can then obtain the Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG).
Can anyone install the NatureWall system?
Anyone can install the system but we would strongly recommend that you complete the training course on our Fibres Academy platform here first so that you understand the principles of the process of installing the system. If you wish to apply for the IBG then the installing company must be PAS2030 registered, each installer must complete the Fibres Academy course and the NatureWall installation procedure must be followed.
What does the NatureWall installation procedure involve?
As it is not possible to physically visit every single site where the system is being used, we ask the installers to send photographic evidence of each layer of the installation so that we can see whether it has been installed correctly. The system is built up layer-by-layer and we sign off each layer to confirm the system has been correctly installed.
Is NatureWall a one-size-fits-all solution?

Using the latest hygrothermal modelling software, the information provided in the NatureWall site assessment document allows us to determine the suitability of the project for internal insulation and then to create a bespoke solution for each project. Choosing from two different wood fibre boards, three membrane options, five different flexible wood fibre options and various masonry coverings, we create a solution tailored to suit the conditions of the project.
