Remmers Funcosil WS masonry water repellent façade treatment
Remmers Funcosil is :-
- a water-based treatment that protects facades from driving rain.
- suitable for porous natural stone, brick, render and concrete.
- an important part of some internal wall insulation systems.
- a water-based, milky liquid, applied by hand or sprayed.
Product overview
Where is it used?
- Remmers Funcosil WS is used on the exterior of solid-walled masonry buildings to reduce rain penetration, producing more suitable conditions for internal wall insulation.
- It is used over soft brick, soft limestones, sandstones and renders.
- The treatment can be used to top up old hydrophobic coatings that have been subjected to long-term weathering.
How is it used?
- Remmers Funcosil WS should only be used when external temperatures are above 10C and the wall is dry (usually between late spring and very early autumn).
- The substrate should be clean, dust-free and dry.
- Any defects, such as cracks, cracked joints, rising damp or hygroscopic moisture must be remedied as water must not be allowed to penetrate behind the treated layer.
- Apply the first coat abundantly by flow coating without pressure (avoid misting), so that a 30 – 50 cm long liquid film flows down the surface.
- Apply on one section at a time, moving from top to bottom, and immediately go over with a large brush.
- Repeat the application several (at least two) times (wet on damp) until no further material is absorbed by the substrate.
- On surfaces where spray application is not possible, apply using a well-saturated brush.
- Take appropriate measures to protect adjacent building elements and materials that should not come into contact with the product.
- Protect freshly treated surfaces from driving rain, wind, sunlight and condensation.
- Remove any excess impregnation agent within 1 hour using V 101 thinner.
How much will you need?
- Sand-lime brick, smooth: at least 0.5 l/m²
- Sand-lime brick, cleft: at least 0.7 l/m²
- Brick, fair-faced masonry: at least 0.8 l/m²
- Brick, coarse-pored: at least 1.5 l/m²
- Aerated concrete: at least 1.3 l/m²
- Lightweight concrete: at least 1.0 l/m²
- Natural stone, fine-pored: at least 0.8 l/m²
- Natural stone, coarse-pored: at least 1.5 l/m²
- Apply to a large enough trial surface (1-2 m²) to determine the precise amount of impregnation agent required.
