“A really robust and breathable membrane, great for laying over wood fibre sarking boards to create watertight, flat roof structures” – Chris Brookman

Product overview.

Where is it used?

  • Ampatop Seal is used on very shallow pitch roofs over wood fibre sarking boards, down to 5° pitch to ensure a fully watertight, breathable seal is formed.
  • This product can also be used down to a 10° pitch without any sarking board support.
How is it used?

  • Ampatop Seal weldable breathable membrane is designed to be used in very low pitch (flat) roof structures.
  • All joints should overlap by at least 100mm and all joints must be welded with Ampacoll LiquiSeal adhesive.
  • Roof pitches between 5° and 10° must use a sarking board to support the membrane and prevent pooling.
  • For full details on how to install this membrane please download the installation guide.
Technical Details
How much will you need?

  • Each roll of Ampatop Aero breathable membrane is 50m long and 1.5m wide. It covers an area of 70m2 including overlaps.

How long can I leave it exposed?

  • This membrane is very UV stable and can withstand up to 3 months of weathering without deterioration. Beyond this the sun can begin to degrade the strength and weather resistance of the membrane.

Do I need to tape the joints?

  • Yes, you should always tape the laps, usually with the Ampacoll XT tape. This ensures the wind-tightness of the exterior of the building and reduces heat loss from wind penetration.

Product overview.

Where is it used?

  • For use on the outside of timber frame walls, behind clad facades to ensure resistance to weather and insects.
  • For use on all types of pitched roof structure.

How is it used?

  • Ampatop Aero breathable membrane can be stapled to the topside of rafters or the outside of timber battens/studs.
  • All joints should overlap by at least 100mm and any vertical joints should be taped with Ampacoll XT breathable tape prior to counter battening or being over boarded/clad.
  • Use Ampacoll DT double sided tape to stick the membrane down to wood fibre or OSB surfaces prior to counter battening.
  • Any penetrations of rafters, vents, ducts or pipes should be sealed with Ampacoll BK 535 penetration sealing tape.

Material in action.

This image shows the Ampatop Seal membrane being used on a low pitch roof. Numbers 1 and 2 are the Ampacoll LiquiSeal and LiquiSeal Applicator, used for bonding the laps in the membrane. Number 3 is the Ampatop SealStripe which is a strip of the membrane used for forming around penetrations, such as roof lights. Number 4 is the Ampacoll TubeSeal which is a purpose made collar for sealing around any vent pipes or other protrusions and finally, number 5 is the Ampatop SealEdge eaves roll which is a UV resistant roll suitable for edging the membrane along the eaves. This ensures a permanently UV stable and watertight edge is formed.
