“A fantastic, vapour regulated weather-tight and airtight seal between your window or door frames and your walls” – Chris Brookman

Product overview.

Where is it used:-

  • Ampacoll Komprimax M joint sealing tape can be used to seal around all types of window and door frames as well as pipework and other service penetrations.
  • Can be used below ground in conjunction with other sealing tapes such as Ampacoll BK535 butyl tape.

How much will I need?

  • Each roll is 8m long and either 60mm or 90mm wide. This product is designed to seal gaps between 6 and 15mm wide. Although it will expand to 30mm in total it is ineffective at thicknesses beyond 15mm.

How is it used?

  • Ampacoll Komprimax M joint sealing tape is best kept cool prior to use.
  • In hot weather keep it in the fridge or other cool place prior to use.
  • Ensure the surface to be bonded to is clean, dry and free from dust.
  • Allow plenty of overlap in the corners of the frames to ensure the tape fills the whole void around the window/door frame.
  • Ampacoll Komprimax M joint sealing tape will slowly expand over several hours in cool conditions. Heat increases speed of expansion.
Technical Details

How much will you need?

  • Each roll of Ampacoll Komprimax is 8m long and either 60 or 90mm wide. Ensure that you measure the tight dimensions of the opening (not the frame) when calculating how much you need.

How long can I leave it exposed?

  • This tape is not UV stable in the long term so should be protected from sunlight as soon as is practicable. This is usually achieved by sealing the external face of the frame with the appropriate Ampacoll tape.

Do I need to tape the joints?

  • No. The external sealing tape will seal any joints from weather penetration.

Material in action.

In this image you can see the Ampacoll Komprimax M between the frame and the sill and then sealed internally and externally with the Ampacoll Fenax 40/60 tape. The sill is also sealed with the Ampacoll Sillskin product to ensure that there is now way in to the timber frame for any wind driven rain. However, should any moisture get in, both the Komprimax and the Fenax tapes are all vapour permeable and so will allow moisture to evaporate without any damage to the window or the walls.
