Where is it used?

• Ampacoll A Tape black is used on roofs and behind open or cloased facades for taping joins and around openings in the Ampatop A Black non-combustible breather membrane
• Used externally in locations where a non-combustible tape is required and UV exposure is to be expected.

How is it used?

• If necessary, clean the surfaces to be bonded or the substrate.
• Cut the Ampacoll® A Tape black to the desired length and ensure the centre of the tape is on the overlap so that an even amount of tape is applied to both pieces of membrane.
• Firmly press the adhesive tape, ideally with a pressure roller, against a pressure resistant surface (usually MDF or wood fibre board) to ensure the durability of the bond.
• Ensuring temperatures are above 5C, allow a setting time of at least 24 hours to ensure the adhesive has set.
• When sealing around penetrations, such as vent pipes etc. ensure at least 30mm lap of Ampacoll® A Tape black on to the penetration and to the membrane. Firmly press the tape to ensure good bonding.
• For the adhesive tape to fully function, counter battens are required for securing the membrane to avoid possible loads from working and from weather conditions (e.g. wind suction and pressure).
• We recommend the facade cladding is installed as fast as possible but it can be left for up to 9 months if required.
• The joint width may be up to a maximum of 50mm so long as the individual strips of cladding are at least 50mm.

How much will you need?

• Each roll of Ampacoll A Tape black is 75mm wide and 25m long. From experience, consumption rates are around 1m of tape per m² of membrane surface although this will increase if there are lots of openings.
