Ampatop A Black breather membrane

Ampatop A Black is:-

  • a non-combustible breather membrane for roofs and facades.
  • highly temperature resistant and ideal for use under PV panels or in facades.
  • fall resistant, making working on roofs much safer than standard membranes.
  • UV stable and can be left uncovered for up to 9 months.
  • able to significantly improve the fire resistance of timber framed structures.

Product overview

Where is it used?

  • Ampatop A Black non-combustible breather membrane is used on the exterior of timber framed walls where open or closed cladding is installed.
  • It can be used under roof mounted PV panels to ensure breathability is maintained where plastic breather membranes would degrade due to high heat levels.
  • When used in facades it can prevent uncontrolled spread of fire over the surface of the wall.

How is it used?

  • Ampatop A Black non-combustible breather membrane can be laid horizontally or vertically with the black face towards the exterior.
  • It can be fixed over the exterior of timber frame structures with stainless steel staples, which must be kept under the laps to prevent moisture penetration.
  • Laps should be firmly sealed with Ampacoll Profix sealant or Ampacoll A Tape Black to ensure weather-tightness
  • When battens are fixed through the breather membrane, use Ampacoll ND Duo or ND Band to ensure a weathertight seal is formed around nails/screws.
  • When using open cladding, ensure that the gaps between the boards is no more than 50mm and it is no more than 50% open (e.g. minimum 50mm wide boards with 50mm gaps).

How much will you need?

  • Ampatop A Black non-combustible breather membrane comes in rolls which are 50m long and 1.4m wide, totaling 70m2 on a roll. However, after the 100mm laps required between rows, each roll covers a maximum of 65m2.
