Product overview.
Where is it used?
- The Argillatherm Riviera system can be used on masonry or timber walling and on ceilings.
- The tiles can be used to create any size of panel to heat or cool specific areas, such as seating areas or snugs, improving comfort.
- Can be used in bathrooms to dry towels or warm mirrors, preventing surface condensation.
How much will you need?
- Argillatherm Riviera heating tiles are 375 x 375mm and 25mm thick, they cover an area of 0.14 m² per tile meaning there are 7.1 tiles per m².
- Allow at least 5% for wastage depending on the complexity of the layout.
How do I use it?
- Argillatherm Riviera panels should be fixed back to a continuous timber substrate, such as ply, OSB or ESB boards which in turn can be fixed to a masonry or timber stud wall or to a ceiling.
- Using stainless steel screws and washers, the panels are fixed back to the substrate in a neat grid pattern (not staggered joints) with a single central fixing and then a fixing in each corner to finalise the fixing. Edge panels should be additionally fixed in the mid-point of the exposed edge.
- Once installed, the pipes can be pressed in in the pattern shown in the below downloadable document.
- With the pipes installed, the surface is lightly dampened and an 8-10mm layer of Baumit Viton Fein plaster, incorporating Baumit StarTex Mesh, is applied and left to dry.
- Once dried a finish layer of Baumit Viton Fein or other clay finish plaster can be applied.
- Once the plaster is completely dry, the heating can be turned on fully, although a very low heat can be used to gently dry the system.
Technical Details
Are they heavy?
- The panels weigh around 4.5kg each and when plastered this will equate to around 50kg/m2. When used on ceilings this weight must be considered as part of the loading of the joists.
What is their thermal conductivity?
- The panels are not designed to be a thermal insulator, in fact they are quite the opposite and designed to disperse heat as well as possible. However, their thermal conductivity is around 1.05 W/mK.
How strong are they?
- The panels have a compressive strength of 2.5 N/mm². They have a flexural strength of 4 N/mm².
