Product overview
Where is it used?
- The UdiSPEED boards can be used internally or externally on timber frames.
- They’re really tough so ideal for commercial or public situations, such as schools.
- On partition walls to take a plaster.
- In recording studios where sound deadening is important.
How is it used?
- The UdiSPEED boards are mechanically fixed to timber frames or to masonry structures.
- As they are very rigid, when using on masonry, apply a layer of render to the back of the boards just before fixing to the wall to ensure full contact.
- The first course of UdiSPEED boards should start at least 300mm above ground level.
- There should be no horizontal or vertical joints within 300mm of the corners of any openings. If this is not possible then UdiSPECIAL ADHESIVE must be used to glue the joints in these areas.
- UdiSPEED wood fibre insulation boards can be cut with a circular saw or with a sharp hand saw (although this is very slow) and then fixed to timber studs/panels.
- The insulation boards should be laid in horizontal rows with the tongues pointing upward and firmly mechanically fixed with UdiASSEMBLY fixings, using an average of 9 fixings per m2.

How much will you need?
The UdiSPEED boards are 1285 x 775mm and 40mm thick, they cover an area of 0.996 m² per board. Allow at least 5% for wastage.

It’s never ideal to let wood fibre insulation boards get soaked by the rain, however, should it happen they will dry out again and be just as robust.
What is their thermal conductivity?
The boards are very high density at around 240kg/m³ and so their conductivity is a little higher than other wood fibre boards at 0.049 W/mK. However, they make up for this by being much better at absorbing sound and also by adding a lot of thermal mass to the structure.
