LithoGlas Solid Floor System

Overview
LithoGlas is a dry, reusable alternative to a concrete slab with PIR insulation. Recycled FG40 Foamglass aggregate is compacted directly onto the prepared ground, forming a free-draining, load-bearing, completely inorganic insulation layer that replaces the concrete slab, DPM and PIR in one.
Geotextile membranes keep the aggregate clean, and a weather-resistant Ampatex Solero vapour control layer is taped with Ampacoll Flexx Pro. Cemwood CW2000 insulating aggregate is then screeded level, followed by two staggered layers of high-density NaturHeld wood fibre board, which add insulation and absorb impact sound.
Lithotherm underfloor heating tiles sit on top, with pre-formed pipe channels that spread heat evenly without a wet screed. The floor can be walked on and finished straight away with engineered timber or tiles. In Radon-affected areas, a Sisalex 871 Radon Barrier membrane is used in place of the Solero VCL.
Key benefits
- No concrete slab, and no drying time
- Integrated underfloor heating without a wet screed
- Walk on and finish the floor immediately after laying
- Free-draining aggregate removes the risk of standing water
- Keeps moisture-sensitive timber dry during construction
- Reusable: the floor can be lifted and reinstated
- Radon variant available
- Substantially lower embodied carbon than a concrete slab floor
